Blog » Tips On Position and Poker Hands

Poker is a game where a player needs both luck and skill. And to emerge as a winner one needs to keep in mind a few rules and have complete knowledge about the strong and weak poker hands.

To start off, the few things you need to pay attention on are – be careful when the game begins. There is not much activity in the first hour but see to it that you have enough chips in hand.

See to your timings and don’t be apprehensive about raising your good hands. It is advisable to raise your premium hands earlier in the game because you get to a lot of hand options to choose from in the later part of the game.

Buy all large blinds and then double them up with the premium hands if you want to win the game. It is good to put forth all your chips if you have with you a good hand.

Make the best use of your good hands but don’t overplay them.

Don’t raise a marginal hand like AT in the early hour of the game.

Never use a big pre-flop hand for a “just call”. And if you are uncomfortable with raising a hand then it is okay to fold it with an exception for hands like AA and KK.

If you are holding a mid position caller and an early position raiser then the best thing to do is fold the pocket tens to save on your chips. You should also know which hand is the strongest and can overpower the other hand at a poker table.
