Poker and gambling are kind of the same but with a difference. Poker is a game that aims for the pot by winning the betting rounds with high scorer cards in a hand. If you play poker then you need luck to win the games. But in the game of poker there are a few more things you need to have with you – psychic power, chance and most importantly playing skill. Apart from all this you need to be wary of the basics of the game.

1) The initial requirement is having a standard pack of 52 cards. Among them, the Ace has the highest value, followed by the other cards like King, the Queen, Jack and numbers like Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three and two which has the least value. The suits (heart, club, etc.) have no importance in this game. A hand of cards is required to play poker and win the pot. A hand should consist of five cards; the highest value holder is the “five of a kind” hand and the lowest is high card which indicates your hand is empty. The best/highest hand is the winner of the pot and in case of a tie between two pairs, the high card is considered to solve the problem by analyzing the rest of the hand to judge which is high on value.

2) The three options which one can opt for during his/her turn while playing poker are

i) To call – Betting to match the rival’s bet call.
ii) To raise – Adding a bigger bet after calling the last bet by the other player.
iii) To fold – This step makes you drop out of the present hand that is being played. You don’t need to put anymore cash into the pot after folding but sadly, lose out on what you had already deposited earlier.

3) You need to know about the different poker variants strategy like where and how to place ‘antes’ and ‘blinds’, and the glossary that contains all the terms of the game of poker along with the knowledge of a good hand.

It is easy to learn and play the game of poker. But, experience is the word in the game of poker. Once you start playing the game, you will learn about all the tricks and strategies. You need to keep practicing too and who knows very soon, you might turn into a master of poker!
