Pot limit Omaha high is a very popular game. This version of Omaha involves a lot of money and is mostly played as a real money poker game. It has significant importance in tournament games. Here the winner is the player with the best combination of five cards. It is an extremely strategic game and requires full concentration of the players. This game becomes more complex and difficult with increasing betting rounds. In the pot limit Omaha the pot grows rapidly with each betting round.

{banner61}The most important rule to be maintained in this game is that the player must use only two hole cards and three community cards to create this combination. There are two blinds involved in this poker game similar to Texas Holdem. Prior to dealing the cards, two blinds called small blind and big blind are made by the two players sitting to the left of the dealer. The big blind is double of the small blind. These two blinds build up the initial pot.

Once a dealer has been assigned for a round, four cards are dealt face down to each player. These are known as the hole cards and are not exposed to the rest of the players. The community cards are exposed and are to be shared by all the players.

The player sitting next to the player who provided the big blind starts the pre-flop betting round. In a pot limit Omaha, there is a maximum betting amount which is equal to size of the pot or there is a minimum betting amount which is equal to the size of the big blind. Placing a bet is known as calling. The player can either call fold or raise. Raising helps in increasing the amount in the pot.

After the pre-flop round, flop takes over. By now three of the community cards are used up. At the next betting round the fourth community card called the turn is used up and in the final betting round the fifth community card known as the river is used. The final betting round is followed by the showdown. In a real money poker game this is where the tension of the players is at its highest. At showdown all the cards are exposed to the players and the player with best hand or best combination of five cards wins.

As the betting amount increases from one betting round to the another, it is quite likely that a player is in a chip-less state ( have used up all the chips). This player is known as the all-in player. At this stage, the pot is separated. A new pot called the side pot is there for the players who are still interested in betting. The all-in player is not entitled to a share in the side pot. The main pot cash can be won by the all-in player.
