The game of Omaha poker has been very successful as a game of gambling amongst millions of gambling enthusiasts from all over the globe. This game if considered as the game of the professionals since this game requires some major strategy usage and proper knowledge of the different terms of this game. For being a winner in this game, you have to have the knowledge of all the terms used in this game.

Below mentioned are some of the important terms which are elated to the game of Omaha poker and can help you to become a strong contender and should also increase your knowledge as an omaha player:

  • A-A-x-x- This is a hand in which the player gets 2 aces with any two cards which are unrelated.
  • Bare Aces- It is a hand in which a player has 2 aces; however do not have any other card which could be beneficial for winning. Bare aces can cause a lot of trouble so it is better to have a check on them.
  • Bare Ace Bluff- This means that a player makes a bluff which could help him in representing the nut flush while he holds the ace.
  • Blockers- This term refers to you having 2 or 3 important cards which are required by your opponent to come up with a straight. He/she may also use these cards for the purpose of flushing your hand.
  • Cap-Limit Betting- This refers to the hand in which the players can bet for the maximum amounts.
  • Dangler- This refers to cards which do not turn out to be good in your starting hand.
  • Hi-Only hand- This points to a hand which only has the ability to become a high hand and does not have any possibilities to become a low hand.
  • Killer card- This card helps you o kill your opponent who is ready to draw against you.
  • OOP- This refers to a player being out of position. A player goes out of position when he/she acts before his/her opponent right after the flop. Out of position ca be a big problem creator in all forms of Omaha and should be avoided at any cost.
  • PLO- this means pot-limit Omaha. This is one of the most popular variations of Omaha Poker.
  • Quartered- This means that you are sharing your pot with some other player. You should avoid getting quartered and can help yourself in improving you profits to a great extent.
