New Orleans also got recognized as a 5 card stud hub. Not only this, this game was very popular among the soldiers who were involved in American Civil War.

Its history reflects that in the beginning of the 20th century the game took a new shape and the 7 card stud came into existence. With this, the popularity and the excitement involved in 5 stud card started to diminish. However, this game is still played with lot of interest in the social gatherings and is common among the online poker players.
