Much like the other card games, the history of the 7 card stuff game is also full of mysteries and uncertainties. Till date there are no proper evidence of how, when and where did this game originated. Also, if you want to know the history of 7 card stud, you will have to spend some time researching on the history of the actual game of poker.

There are several different theories related to the history of this game. It is commonly believed that the word ‘poker’ indicates ‘to knock’ which came from a card game called Poque which was played in France in ancient times. Also the game is quite similar to a Persian card game called As Nas which used to be played with a deck of 5 suits.

It is believed that the game of 7 card stud poker is a combination of the French card game Poque and the Persian game As Nas. The idea of bluffing in 7 card stud came from an English card game known as Brag. Brag is a card game which has got a lot of similarities with 7 card stud poker, however, the game of brag is played with just 3 cards.

The first evidence of poker in US was in the year 1829 when a card game was played using 20 cards and all the cards has a value of 10 and greater i.e. 4 aces, 4 kings, 4 jacks, 4 queens and 4 10s. The game did not have a definite name; however, the goal was to make the bets on the hand which contained the highest ranked cards.

The game of 7 card stud prominently came into the scene in the 20tyh century; however, no one is very certain about the dates of its origination. The game of 7 card stud became the most popular variant of poker and remained to the most favored one until 1980s. In 1980, a little variation in the 7 card stud game gave birth to the Texas Hold’em Poker which successfully overtook the original form of the game and soon became the favorite of many gamblers and rookie players as well.

Today the game of 7 card stud poker is quite famous in the casinos and gambling houses all across the globe. There are many different versions of it which can be found here. There are huge 7 card stud poker tournaments as well which you can play and try to earn huge amounts.
