FL poker or the fixed limit poker is a variation of Omaha poker. This game is very popular like the other variations of Omaha; however, very few of the gambling enthusiasts really know the difference between fixed limit poker and the other forms of Omaha. Many of the players tend to blindly proceed towards the game of fixed limit poker and assume that the rules and regulations of this game are similar to that of regular Omaha poker. For being successful with this game, you have to use your strategies very carefully since your favorite strategies also might not work while playing this game.

Below are some of the basic rules and strategies of this game which could help you to understand the game of fixed limit poker in a better way:

  • Starting hands play a very important part in winning in a game of fixed limit poker. As the most important rule of the game, you should always try and look for related cards along with the high pair. Suiting of the high pair gives you a better chance to have a much stronger hand based on which you can proceed with the game. This does not mean that you should always fold if you don’t have any suited cards in the starting hand but this means that you should always try and look for the suited options.
  • Drawing hands is really important in fixed limit poker since it is based on the structure of this game. In Omaha, a player receives 4 flops to start with therefore there are better chances of drawing flush draws or running straights.
  • When there are 3 face up cards on the table and the flop comes, you must try to match them with the 4 cards that you have in your hand to make the best possible hand.
  • Always keep in mind that out of the 4 hole cards that are dealt to you, you can only make use of 2 cards while playing the final hand.
  • While you are about to play the turn, you should always try and look for strong combinations. You should be able to at least hit the flop to a sensible percentage of your potential.
  • It is advisable to get yourself involved in any of the fixed Omaha games with short hands till the time you are not entirely confident about the strategies to take care of the related risks.
