Never just use check/fold button while playing online poker

The advantage of playing big blind is that you can use the option of check by which you can see the next card (flop) without having to bet. You can also fold if you feel that your hand is too weak. You can use check/fold button every time you have an opportunity to put big blind.

This can be observed by your opponent and could be used against you. If you make it a habit of using the check/fold button your opponent will figure out that you are preparing to fold unless you can see the flop card for free. This can be counted as your weakness. This shows that you do not have strong cards and therefore wish to see the next card. What your opponent can do in such a situation is to go for a raise which will prompt you to fold.

The timing and the use of the button is of utmost important in an online poker game. You should not make a pattern of hitting the check/fold button to give advantage to your opponent. Take time to decide what could be your next move. If you have a very weak hand it is better to fold. But if you have a reasonably medium hand it will be worth to take a chance. Once you hit the call/ raise button you will see a number of your opponents folding expecting you to have a strong hand. So next time you play poker at a site like absolute poker remember that it is not necessary to click the check/fold button after every big blind.
