Strategy & Tips » Tips for playing Holdem Poker

Tips are not the strict guidelines which can ensure success. It is to improve your skill which indirectly can help you to be confident. Every player follows his own secret tricks and line of approach and style while playing Holdem Poker. A few tips are given herewith which can by helpful for the players…

#1. Develop your own playing strategy.
#2. Don’t get nervous if you are a novice; focus yourself and create exclusively your own style of playing.
#3. Understand minute details, evaluate the game and think over it. Count the number of playing members. With less number of players your blind betting possibility may rise. Act with more aggression in this case.
#4. Avoid loose and silly games and play a good starting game. Never bluff if your opponent is holing good hand.
#5. Know your starting game properly. Never think twice to fold or stop wasting your money if the hand is not up to the mark; the chance of winning with a weak hand is merely one percent. Be courageous.
#6. It is necessary to know your position. ‘On the button’ is the best position while the ‘small blind’ is the worst.
#7. Watch carefully…not only your own cards but other players’ gestures and expressions also. Keep an approximate count of other player’s chips, their probable cards. You can understand if they are tight or bluffing.
#8. A frustrated player may go for a bigger bet. Decide your game plan after a good thought.
#9. Flop for free? No chance! Before attaining the minimum bet, no players should be allowed to see the flop free.
#10. A sudden surge in the betting amount is a clear sign of the player’s good stance.
#11. In case of good cards in your hand, make the game expensive for others.
#12. Get the river as cheaply as possible, if you are held with a draw after turn; get to the river in less cost.
#13. Post turn, if your hand is good, let your opponents pay extra to see the river.
#14. In case the community cards have a pair, yours may be against a full house.
#15. Three cards of similar suit on the board? Watch out, your opponent may have a flush!

Holdem Poker is not a luck game only. It needs intellectual analysis and power of observation. Interestingly, it can teach about discipline and self-control too. But never mix up your ‘poker hour’ with family matters to retain peace at home!.
